Broker
New brokers are now functioning.
  • Brokers buy and sell cargo.
  • Brokers represent their community, which is all non-military buildings of their empire that are connected by land.
  • Brokers sell all community goods except fuel stored at power plants.
  • Brokers buy goods to fill community storage space, except the storage space of buildings that manufacture things and a few other exceptions.
  • Hail on the Trade channel to talk to brokers.
Broker Shipments
Broker shipments are now functioning for new buildings.
  • Brokers fill shipments from the stock in their community.
  • Brokers send shipments to cities in other solar systems: old cities, new city capitols, and military base hqs.
  • Shipments received by capitol buildings are distributed to storage in their community, as if a broker had purchased it.
  • Shipments received by base hqs are distributed to storage in military buildings.
  • Shipments to places that no longer exist are removed. This fixes a problem with stuck shipments.
Airport Terminal
New airport terminals are now functioning.
  • Airports communicate with all spacecraft except enemies.
  • Airports load and unload passengers to/from the resident population of their community, except universities and private security contractors.
  • Airports load crew from the resident population of universities.
  • Airports load troops from the resident population of private security contractors.
  • Airports provide spacecraft support services.
  • Airports provide repairs and upgrades to spacecraft if they have access to a repair shop.
  • Airports charge/pay no fees to fleet spacecraft for fuel, support services, munitions, repairs or upgrades.
  • Hail on the Hail channel to talk to airports.
Base Air Terminal
Base air terminals are now functioning.
  • Air bases communicate with fleet spacecraft of their empire, vassal empires, and friend empires.
  • Air bases represent their base, which is all military buildings on the planet.
  • Air bases load officers from star fleet academies. The world must be habitable and in the green orbit zone. Airport, university, and spacecraft factory are not required, as they are with old style cities.
  • Air bases unload passengers to the resident population of barracks.
  • Air bases load crew from the resident population of star fleet academies.
  • Air bases load troops trom the resident population of space marine barracks.
  • Air bases load/unload cargo.
  • Air bases provide spacecraft support services.
  • Air bases provide repairs and upgrades to fleet spacecraft if they have access to a repair shop. The air base must be connected by land to the repair shop.
  • Air bases charge/pay no fees for fuel, cargo, support services, repairs or upgrades.
  • Hail on the Hail channel to talk to air bases.
Status Report
There is a button on the comm to ask a city for its current inventory. It was renamed to Status Report. Airports, brokers and air bases will respond with a brief bit of information in response to this query.

Building Construction Materials
World map display, headlight lens and nav light lens parts cause the addition of an electronic part to the spacecraft manufacturing process. The electronic part was omitted when using them in building designs, to reduce the requirement for electronic parts.

Server Crash
A server crashed when the new designer sent invalid parameters for a texturing operation. This was fixed.

Transporter Places
The Cities option on the transporter destinations window recently changed to Places. More different interesting places now appear in that list.

Building Codes
The requirement for spacecraft parking spots was not shown on the building codes window. Now it is.

Diplomatic Messages
There is a comm channel button to send a diplomatic message to the owners of a city or building.
  • That was updated to use the government dossier, instead of sending mail.
  • Both empires get an appropriate dossier entry showing the diplomatic message.
  • The city/building is still limited to sending one diplomatic message every five minutes.
Star Fleet Academy Cadet
New style star fleet academy now notifies by mail when a cadet is ready for assignment.

Later...

Power Plant Electronics
Power plant and capacitor volume were adding a requirement for electronic parts that was impossible to overcome. Now only nuclear and solar power plant modules add electronic parts due to power plant and capacitor volume.

Officer AI cannot trade with the new style buildings yet. That will follow on shortly. It builds upon the work that was done for this update.

A few of these things are waiting for the servers to restart for testing. The dossier change might work ok, or it might look ugly, haven't seen it yet.

I believe it is fixed.

Power plant and capacitor volume no longer add a requirement for electronic parts to a building design, depending upon power plant module in use. Nuclear power plant module and solar power plant module will still add electronic parts.

We shall see.

Thanks for working so hard on the new buildings Haxus, it's always exciting to get closer to fully functioning cities. Is it still the plan to let officered stations send and receive shipments?

I'm not sure if the designer size limit is still too small by a factor of ten, I'll check.

designer size limit is still too small by a factor of ten

The designer calculates and reports usage based on a limit that is 1/10 the size of Falbala. The usage reported turns amber when 90% of that limit is reached. It does not turn red until the true internal limit is reached, which is big enough to fit Falbala, at 10x the size that is reported as 100% usage.

The reason for this is to allow ships to continue to exist that exceed the 100% limit, such as Falbala and possibly others.

At the same time, people who design new ships are strongly encouraged to stay within a much smaller size limit, reported as 100%. No indication of size is given after 100%. The architect is in unknown territory until they get below 100% or until they finally hit the red limit, helping to keep them out of that range.

Maybe add exponentially to the required build time exceeding the initial 100%? that could make a pretty effective deterrent, still possible, but impractical to build.
